Finally figured it out!! Instead of mixing these two clays together, use them side by side in a striped or checkerboard pattern. This piece started showing fault lines at the edges – so next time I make a piece using these clay bodies I will need to ensure they are bonded more completely before forming.

Don’t try this one either! These clay bodies have very similar shrinkage rates and look gorgeous next to each other, but causes bubbling when layered in any significant way.

Do not try this combo at home! The off-gassing from the clay body, mixed with glaze mix, left the surface bubbly and pockmarked.

Another one of my attempts with porcelain. This one came a bit better, but glazing proved problematic. The glazes I use don’t behave the same on porcelain as they do on other clay bodies. #liveandlearn

Oops ! Sometimes glaze combos go horribly wrong – and this was one such combo. Don’t try this one at home. It ran so bad I ended up throwing the pot away rather than try and salvage it.
